2026 Volvo Changes at a Glance
- In 2026, the recently introduced Volvo EVs roll into the new model year with minimal changes.
- The Volvo XC40 now comes with a B4 FWD powertrain as standard equipment, with the B5 AWD option being available.
- Most SUVs are now equipped with an 11.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital cluster.
- Similarly, there are three new colors on select Volvo models this year: Forest Lake, Aurora Silver, and Mulberry Red.
- The Volvo S60 and Volvo S90 sedans have been retired in the U.S., streamlining the Volvo lineup to a selection of beloved SUVs and a single wagon, the 2026 Volvo V60 Cross Country.
Key Changes to the 2026 Volvo SUV Models
For fans of all-electric SUVs, you'll be excited to know that two members of the Volvo EV lineup continue to amaze drivers: the Volvo EX30 and Volvo EX90. The former is a subcompact luxury SUV, and the latter is a three-row luxury vehicle quickly establishing itself as a flagship Volvo model.
The new Volvo EX40 rolls into its second year on the market. Previously known as the Volvo XC40 Recharge, the car's name was changed last year to bring it in line with the Volvo Cars naming conventions. The Volvo EX40 still offers two powertrains for 2026: the Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor. Their specs are as follows:
- Single Motor Extended Range: 248 horsepower, a 6.9-second 0-60 mph time, and up to an EPA-estimated 296 miles of all-electric range.1
- Twin Motor: 402 horsepower, a 4.6-second 0-60 mph time, and up to an EPA-estimated 260 miles of all-electric driving range.1
Another change for the year concerns the Volvo XC40, which now enjoys a duology of powertrains, having revived the B4 FWD for the year. Although many may prefer the AWD variant of this compact SUV, some may desire the slightly higher fuel efficiency values in lieu of the more precise handling of AWD. The choice is entirely in your hands.
The cabins of many Volvo SUVs will introduce you to Nordico upholstery, the brand's exclusive, sustainable leather alternative that is made from recycled materials. Further, most models, like the Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC60 PHEV, are now outfitted with an 11.2-inch touchscreen – a serious boost from the 9-inch center display last year. Similarly, most models have more real estate on their digital cluster, going from 9 inches to 12.3 inches.
A few new colors are also available on select Volvo 2026 models, including Mulberry Red, Aurora Silver, and Forest Lake.

Key Changes to Volvo 2026 Models: Sedans & Wagon
We'd be remiss if we didn't touch on the biggest Volvo lineup change of all: the discontinuation of the brand's executive sedans. This year, we say goodbye to the Volvo S60 and Volvo S90, two mild-hybrid sedans that elevated the work commute for many drivers in the area.
Although these won't be found among our 2026 Volvo models, you can still often find these models in our pre-owned selection.
Although these sedans are gone from the lineup, the Volvo V60 Cross Country did make a triumphant return for the year. It essentially carries into the new year unchanged, with one change – the Polestar Engineered edition has been retired. Now, the trim lineup for this sleek wagon includes the Plus and Ultra options.
